Briggs & Stratton 17kW Standby Generator
The Briggs & Stratton 17kW Standby Generator is always ready to restore power to your home during utility outages. Fully automatic, it works in any weather including hurricanes, day or night. It doesn’t matter if you’re at home, away on vacation, or sleeping in your bed, the 40673 senses a power outage. Within seconds, the generator starts and signals the automatic transfer switch. The ATS switches from utility to generator power. Power management ensures your home’s essential appliances and circuits have power when they need it.
Where temperatures fall below 30 degrees Fahrenheit, install a battery warmer and oil warmer to ensure fast, easy starts. In below freezing temperatures, a warm battery provides more power for starting the generator. Warm oil lubricates better which prolongs engine life and makes it easier to start. LP Propane Installations for areas with below zero temperatures should install a regulator warmer.
Power Management
The New Briggs and Stratton Generator and Automatic Transfer Switch systems include an Amplify 200-Amp Service Rated Transfer Switch and Amplify Gateway Module.
With Amplify power management, the homeowner can control up to 32 prioritized appliances via the Standby Generator Management App. The Amplify system requires the Gateway, Dual Low Voltage Modules, and High Voltage Modules. Low voltage modules manage appliances with controls like a thermostat—Air Conditioners, Furnaces, and Heat Pumps. High voltage appliances like electric ranges, water heaters, and electric dryers use the high voltage modules.
The Standby Generator Management App allows the homeowner to change system priorities as needed. For example, the electric range might receive a higher priority over the electric dryer while cooking dinner.
Standby Generator Installations require the use of a Carbon Monoxide Detector inside the home to guard against CO Poisoning.
Briggs and Stratton PowerProtect Standby Generators are NOT rated for Prime Power Applications.
