Tips: How Does Screw Pump Increase Pressure?
The screw pump consists of two or more intermeshing screws that rotate within a cylindrical housing. The screw’s threads have a helical shape, which creates a continuous flow path along the screw’s length. The screw’s rotation moves the fluid axially from the suction end to the discharge end of the pump. As the fluid moves through the pump, it is trapped between the screw’s threads and the pump housing. The decreasing volume between the screw threads creates a pressure rise as the fluid is forced towards the discharge end of the pump.
